Mission Statement

EnTrust Community Services is committed to enriching the lives of people with disabilities by promoting creative employment, education, and health options that foster integration into their communities.

To implement our mission, EnTrust Community Services (formerly Provident Horizon Group) works with companies throughout the region to supply workers, especially those with disabilities, in temporary or full time positions; in groups or individually; on-site or off-site. Working relationships with local businesses have helped meet production deadlines, solve short and long term employment needs, while providing work opportunities for people with disabilities.

History

Originally incorporated in 1971 under the name "Special Projects for the Handicapped", EnTrust’s roots stretch back to the mid-1960s when a group of parents began a day care program for children with disabilities who could not be served, at the time, by public schools.

In 1981, the organization began to focus upon vocational rehabilitation for adults with disabilities and the name changed to Provident Industries. About this same time, Horizon’s of Sunnyside opened its doors to provide similar services in the Lower Yakima Valley.

With the early 1990s, came the realization that the well-intended goal to ‘shelter’ the disabled also segregated individuals from the general community. Both organizations became committed to employment for its program participants in business and industry, rather than in segregated workshops. Programs now included employment, education and vocational training services. The Yakima organization was renamed Provident Services to reflect the change in mission.

In 2005, Provident Services merged with Horizons of Sunnyside to form the Provident Horizon Group. Achieving a visible and consistent presence in each of our partner communities has been a goal of the organization since its inception in 1971. With vocational service centers located in Yakima, Sunnyside, and the Tri-Cities, EnTrust has ensured easy access to communities throughout Central Washington. In 2009, we changed our name to EnTrust Community Services to reflect our addition of education (UpSkills) and health (Creative Health Options) to our array of services. EnTrust now provides a variety of services designed to enrich the lives of those we serve.

Each center is fully staffed to provide a wide range of support services to people with disabilities, employers and funding agencies. EnTrust is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from within the community who represent diverse backgrounds and cultures. EnTrust is funded by a variety of public and private sources and through the commercial services it provides the business community.
